Computing

It is important that you leave the school with an effective knowledge of computing skills – skills which will be vital to you in the world of work. The school has a policy of Information Technology across the curriculum and, in the pursuit of this policy, the use of IT in your Sixth Form studies is strongly encouraged.

The school has a considerable IT provision which is available to you in the Computing Department, in particular academic departments and, at specific times, within the boarding houses and day-residences. The keyboards around the school are networked and internet access is available under appropriately controlled conditions too. Some pupils now use their own lap-top machines regularly and readily in the classroom and laboratory though, to preserve the integrity and security of the school system, we do not allow you to connect your lap-top to our own network.

Lower School

Information Technology is delivered through individual subjects in the Lower and Upper Fifth. Each subject provides a series of tasks, which are completed using various aspects of IT, such as word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, the Internet, and subject-specific software.

Sixth Form

The school has a policy of Information Technology across the curriculum and, in the pursuit of this policy, the use of IT in your Sixth Form studies is strongly encouraged.
