Recently Cranleigh celebrated World Day for Cultural Diversity, Dialogue and Development recognised by UNESCO. To celebrate this important day, Senior Prefects, Cranleigh Being Leaders, Diversity Alliance Leaders and House Captains, and guided by Mrs Mahaliah Edwards-Whiting (Teacher of Cultural Development) put on a wonderful event.
There was a buzz of excitement in our Emms Centre all afternoon, as houses displayed stalls from cultures around the world, featuring food, information displays, quizzes, challenges, and fun games. We welcomed two special guests, Nigerian and Indian dancers who gave an interactive performance to our pupils, many of which got involved. The event was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about cultures from around the world and interactive learning in this instance was a perfect opportunity to allow pupils to be creative and learn as a School community. Outside of the event, our catering team provided meals from different cultures.
A huge congratulations to everybody involved in making the afternoon a brilliant success. In particular, pupils who gave their spare time to work so hard to support the day, and staff including Mrs Mahaliah Edwards-Whiting who co-ordinated the event.
