We are delighted to report another good year of A-Level results, with 14 per cent of students achieving the top A* grade, 43 per cent of grades at A*-A, 78 per cent of grades at A*-B and an overall pass rate of 100 per cent.

The Sixth Formers performed extremely well, 38 per cent of students gaining A*/A in two or more subjects, and well over half of the cohort achieving all A*-B.

Huge congratulations to the five pupils who achieved all A*/AA, with Tom C. and Alice R. additionally achieving A* at EPQ and Tom a further A in Greek AS. Top performing subjects were Music with 100% A*/A and Economics with 76% A*/A.

Mr David Boggitt, Deputy Head Academic, said: “Our Sixth Formers really committed themselves to their studies and supported each other brilliantly this year. We wish them them the very best in their future plans.”

Earlier in the year we announced another excellent set of Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Most Sixth Formers at Cranleigh take an EPQ alongside studying for three A-Levels. The qualification asks students to undertake a longer piece of research culminating in a dissertation style essay or the production of an artefact. It’s now widely used as a preparation for university learning by schools and sixth form centres across the country. This year student projects ranged from the interpretation of a famous painting in the form of a cake to the design of a set of costumes for a school play. The results were outstanding, with 43 per cent of pupils gaining A*/A and 73 per cent of all EPQs graded at A*-B.

The students who collected their results today are already focusing on their futures and most have had their university places confirmed. The majority will be going to university in the autumn, or taking a gap year and deferring a university place. Others have accepted apprenticeships or places at music, drama or art colleges.

Huge congratulations to all!
