Olivia Chesser (U6 South) and Eleanor McAleese-Park (U6 West) took part in the Cambridge University Chemistry Challenge at the end of last term. Around 8,500 keen Chemistry students fromgirls 2 independent and maintained schools all over the UK took part in this Challenge.

Both girls achieved marks in the top 8% of entrants earning themselves Gold Awards. The Gold Awards, for marks between 33 and 45 out of 60 was considered by the organisers to be very good indeed and demonstrated a significant leap beyond AS Level.

Head of Chemistry, Sue Kemp, said; “Olivia and Eleanor should be justly proud of their awards; gaining gold certificates in this paper is a really remarkable achievement. The girls had to apply and extend their understanding to unknown situations which required very high level thinking skills.”
